On March 2, 2025, the Chiang Rai Provincial Police Investigation Unit received a report that there would be a drug trafficking gang smuggling a large amount of methamphetamine pills from the Thai-Laos border in Ban Saeo Subdistrict, Chiang Saen District, Chiang Rai Province.
